Corrosion takes over like red disease
These parts are not replaceable
Limbs stretched to the limit
Desperate driving takes its toll
Hauling weight, completing projects
Machines have no tear ducts;
If they did, would they leak fuel
Draining until there was no capacity to continue?
They would be quartered
Shattered
Sold for scraps
Scattered in the robot graveyard
Decommissioned at last.

Knowing I’ve chosen right
As I watch the light
Slip beneath the horizon;
No more lying
No more denying
No more attempts
At pretending that uncertainty
Hadn’t risen
Like a kite on the wind,
I have sinned
Lived unhinged
Like a battered door hanging on
By a rusty nail
I never wanted us to fail
But here I am
Writing a break-up poem at one A.M.
Where I imagine I go through with it…
Volume 1:
What if it is impossible to be amicable
To replace the burning flame of romance
With tepid, tame friendship
To reduce talks that once lasted hours
Into ones that last minutes
Without risking remission,
A revisit
To what had once been?
I wonder if one day
I won’t be
Writing about you
As a memory
As a love that had been
Then
Winked out.
